Church Elders/Palomars

The role of the Church Elders or the “Palomars” is to undertake all necessary preparations for Divine Services, in consultation with the Parish Priest. The Palomars serve the Parish Priest during church services. This includes overseeing the candle desk, ushering parishioners and guests into the church, lighting the candles, preparing the Gospel stand for the reading, coordinating volunteers to hold the communion cloth at liturgies, coordinating the altar boys, and cleaning of the candle stands, pews and general church area following services. In concert with the Altar Guild, they coordinate and decorate the church for major Feast days, such as Christmas, Pascha, and Patron Saints Day.
